Junaid Hassan Masoodi was born in Srinagar city of Kashmir region of Jammu and Kashmir state. After completing his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kashmir, Srinagar in 2007, I joined TIPL and worked as a Site Engineer for the erection and Installation of 1000 TPD cement plants.  He as served as the lead site engineer at a cement Plant with a 1200 TPD capacity, where he oversaw the installation and commissioning of several static equipment and other heavy machinery. He enrolled at the National Institute of Technology in Srinagar in August 2008 to pursue Masters of Technology in Mechanical System Design.  After completing postgraduate studies he joined the NHPC Ltd. as an engineer (Mechanical) in June 2010. He was responsible for operation and maintenance of 450 MW Baglihar hydroelectric power station. In December 2012 he enrolled for  the Ph.D. Program at the National Institute of Technology Srinagar. As a  part of his doctoral studies he was responsible for creating the state of art laboratory, “Turbine Erosion Testing Laboratory” at NIT Srinagar. The laboratory serves as a  facility to test performance of  scaled  turbine runners for sediment erosion and other metallography studies.

He joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Technology, University of Kashmir, Srinagar on 19th  April 2017. Several of his works have been published in  international journals of repute. He also serves as a reviewer for a number of high-quality journals published by Elsevier, ASME, and others.

Has the credentials of having served as a Technical Expert/ Trainer for Skill J&K 2018 project, which was launched by the Skill Development Mission of the Government of India.  from February to May 2018.

His areas of interest includes:

          Design & development of test rig for quantification of wear in hydro turbines due to sediment and cavitation.

           Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of Turbomachinery

           Crack tip plasticity, Crack Closure.
